A weekend of new year fun for our Beavers!

Beavers District New Year Party

This year we kicked off with a jam-packed weekend of fun for our Beavers. 200 Beavers from across the Richmond district came together for an afternoon of circus skills workshops, craft, and party games!

They were treated to an incredible finale show of jaw-dropping circus tricks which had them cheering and jumping out of their seats in amazement!

The event was made more special by coming together to sing “Happy Birthday” to Beavers itself, and being given a special 40th birthday badge as a memento.

3rd Hampton Beavers Sleepover

Just when you thought that was enough for a Saturday afternoon(!), 3rd Hampton Beavers were invited to a sleepover at our HQ. This was the first time staying away from family for many and they did amazingly well.

After games, pizza and a movie, beds were set up in our main hall with a star light projector to create a cosy atmosphere. The Beavers read books by torchlight before settling down to sleep.

Sleep WAS had…we could have all done with more…but it was a very successful night with leaders close by in case anyone needed us (which they didn’t!).

We were up early the next morning for croissants and chocolate spread, then a litter pick of the local area working towards our Community Impact badge. The Beavers worked together to collect 2 (almost) full bags of rubbish in 45 minutes!

The sleepover event was a success and we hope to host more very soon. Nights away (whether indoor or on camps) give our young people the chance to learn some great life skills (setting up a bed, looking after a kit bag, supporting friends who may be nervous). They all received a Nights Away badge afterwards – a fantastic achievement.
