All our members are expected to take part in this important event. Please refer to the recent emails from your section leader for full details

After the parade we will also be taking a group photo (like last year) and if there are any parents with “photographic tendencies” we would love someone to take some photos with a quality camera!! Please let your section leader know if you can help.

Scouts win District Day Day Prowl

Well done to both of our teams – 1st and 7th out of 22 teams – especially good result as none of our scouts had ever taken part before. Great to see that they know how to use a map and compass – who needs satnav!!

Another successful Jumble Sale…

The rain held off and the Jumble managed to, yet again, raise over £3,000 towards group funds.

Many thanks to all those that helped on the day, in the build up and clearing away.

The next Jumble is on March 25th 2017 – and we really need much more help from the parents as we were very stretched this year sorting jumble in the build up, selling goods and clearing away on the day. It would be great if every family could help for even just a few hours either on the day or in the build up – it takes a huge amount of time to sort out the jumble that comes in…..

Both scout teams successfully complete Day Prowl……..

Well done to the 13 scouts that made up our teams in yesterday’s event. Both teams successfully navigated their way around the whole course and one of them even managed to continue on and earn some endurance points!snoopy

The results are being compiled and double checked at the moment and I hope to be able to announce where we came in the competition within the next week or so.

There will also be a raffle. All funds raised go to the group

Please come along for a fun quiz, cheap drinks and to help raise funds towards the kitchen redevelopment.

New Term at Scouts

The new term at scouts starts on Friday 9th September – more information will be going out via email and in the password protected parts of the website. The first competition of the year is on Sunday 9th October – Day Prowl – which is a district incident hiking challenge. I need to know right at the start of term who is up for this – teams of 4 to 7 scouts – we should be able to IMG_2665make up 3 or more teams to take part in this to build on our performance in the night hike earlier in the year…

Summer Camp – over for another year

Summer camp was, yet again, blessed with great weather for most of the week and the few scouts that went enjoyed a week full of activities and fun, between them they did, zip wire, laser tag, abseiling, kayaking, various inflatables (assault course, bungee run, giant slide, gladiator, sweeper, slippery slope) as well as archery, air rifle, fire lighting, rope-a-phobia, quad biking, pedal cars, water wars, journalism, coconut tree climb, gyroscope, aeroball and the Tolmers incident hike.

In the evenings they enjoyed their own small campfires as well as watching a few of the movies on offer, finishing off with the Disco/foam party on Friday night.

Here’s hoping that we can get a lot more scouts there next to have a similar action packed week.
