Chef Camp

A lot of great work done this weekend at our first chef camp – Friday night spent creating their menus and shopping lists for the meals they were cooking. All mucked in to cook a full english on Saturday morning before popping down to Sainsbury’s to shop for their ingredients.

On their return the first teams cooked their meal using the gas stoves, after clearing up they pitched their tents, chopped some wood and then the second teams cooked their evening meal.

After some time relaxing in the evening the scouts all camped outside for the night. On Sunday morning they then got their fires going and, eventually, cooked their breakfast and lunch on a wood fire.

Over the weekend the scouts cooked and ate a variety of meals ranging from carrot and cucumber sticks, fish finger wraps, quorn stir fry with noodles, ham and mushroom omelettes, breaded chicken with mash/peas, chicken kebabs, salmon fish cakes, fruit kebabs, fruit salad/cream, toasted marshmallows, smores and pancakes.

Hopefully they are now all helping out at home with the washing up – they’ve had plenty of practice. More photos on Flickr…..

Monopoly Run 2015

Earlier this month, following a sleepover at the HQ, 3 teams of scouts spent the day in London “playing Monopoly” – our own 3D version – where scouts have to find their way around the board depending on the throw of the dice…… Here are a few photos – more in the Flickr account.

Remembrance Day – Great turnout

As you can see from the first of the photos received we had a really strong turnout today – over 60% of the group – if you were one of the many taking similar photos please email them to Nigel so we can print the best one for the Gallery…

On a separate note there are still some tickets available for the panto – so get your requests in ASAP before they sell out.

Remembrance Day Parade – Sunday 8th November

3rd Hampton Scout Group will be participating in the Remembrance Day parade and service on Sunday, 8th November, in Hampton.

All our members are expected to take part in this important event. Please refer to the recent emails from your section leader for full details

After the parade we will also be taking a group photo (like last year) and if there are any parents with “photographic tendencies” we would love someone to take some photos with a quality camera!! Please let your section leader know if you can help.

The Jumble Sale – another great success!!

The weather was great, the marquee was a big hit and the Jumble managed to, yet again, raise over £3,000 towards group funds.

Many thanks to all those that helped on the day and in the build up and clearing away.

The next Jumble is on March 19th 2016 – and it would be great to have even more help from the parents as we were a little stretched this year in the build up and clearing away on the day. It would be great if every family could help for even just a few hours either on the day or in the build up – it takes a lot of time to sort out the jumble that comes in…..
