St George’s Day

Well done to all the beavers, cubs and scouts that came to the parade today. We were fortunate to have good weather and our scouts gave a good account of themselves on stage for a rendition of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”.

I’m sure the public out and about in Twickenham today have now definitely heard of 3rd Hampton as our group sang “Everywhere we go…” for the majority of the parade – at a very significant volume!!.

Here’s hoping that they are all in similarly fine voice for the Gang Show in only 3 weeks.

St George’s Day

Just a reminder that St George’s Day Parade is on Sunday 17th April and we expect everyone to come along. We also need two adults per section  to act as marshals on the day. Full details are in the news section.

County Scout Night Hike

Well done to our team for finishing the 8 mile route in some damp, dark and foggy conditions – only a couple of “detours”. They finished 20th out of 42 teams – a very good performance for our first time in the event – roll on next year!!

The scouts also camped overnight and managed to set up and strike camp in record time and working well as a team – well done, you should be very proud of what you’ve achieved.

The full results are in the attached document

Waitrose – community scheme – easy fund raiser

If you get the chance please pop down to the small Waitrose on Oldfield Road and while you’re shopping put a green token in the box for 3rd Hampton Scout Group.

As many of you will know – Waitrose gives to 3 charities every month and how much we get depends on how many counters are in our section of the box.

We are one of the charities for February – so spread the word to family and friends and ask them to do the same – the more tokens in the box the more cash we get!!

Collect the vouchers – please

active kids

It’s that time of year again. The voucher scheme starts this week!!

Please get all your family and friends to collect Active Kids vouchers from Sainsburys – we can get lots of free stuff if you bring them in to us over the next few months.  With a smaller membership please bring them to us instead of school as the schools have hundreds to collect from – we have many fewer people to collect from!!

Chef Camp

A lot of great work done this weekend at our first chef camp – Friday night spent creating their menus and shopping lists for the meals they were cooking. All mucked in to cook a full english on Saturday morning before popping down to Sainsbury’s to shop for their ingredients.

On their return the first teams cooked their meal using the gas stoves, after clearing up they pitched their tents, chopped some wood and then the second teams cooked their evening meal.

After some time relaxing in the evening the scouts all camped outside for the night. On Sunday morning they then got their fires going and, eventually, cooked their breakfast and lunch on a wood fire.

Over the weekend the scouts cooked and ate a variety of meals ranging from carrot and cucumber sticks, fish finger wraps, quorn stir fry with noodles, ham and mushroom omelettes, breaded chicken with mash/peas, chicken kebabs, salmon fish cakes, fruit kebabs, fruit salad/cream, toasted marshmallows, smores and pancakes.

Hopefully they are now all helping out at home with the washing up – they’ve had plenty of practice. More photos on Flickr…..
